Let's Go!
Good morning!
Wow. What a big day we have ahead of us here in the U.S. and, in many ways, the world.
Regardless of how the election turns out, we all still have lots of work ahead of us.
The election here in our country shows us again that while money isn’t everything, it provides the energy to power change. More than $10 billion will be spent on advertising this election, $3.5 billion of that on the presidential contest.
So, here’s a money idea if you are a socially responsible business: Shore up your supply chain by spending more of your B2B outlay with other impact companies. In many ways, it’s the biggest impact we can make – by amplifying our supplier purchases. If you’d like to go deeper on the economic multiplier effect, we’ve written about it previously.
And here’s a starting point: If you don’t know how much of your B2B spend goes to socially responsible partners, simply begin by benchmarking your current spend and improving from there. What constitutes a socially responsible link in your supply chain? Think about local businesses, B Corps, public benefit corporations, nonprofits, and other businesses with a stated mission of impact.
Yes, it takes a little work, but it shouldn’t be that hard to have a significant percentage of your spending fuel impact with aligned businesses. It’s a great way to ratchet up your impact.
And don’t forget – that same thoughtful spending ethos can come back your way, too.
What do you say? There’s work to be done, so LET’S GO!
Godspeed, friends.
Russ
P.S. Much gratitude to Annie Murai who joined the ranks of paid supporters for Godspeed, for this and for the positive impact you make every day through your personal example and your work at Measure Meant.
